2006 Overall

OMG! Can you believe it!? 2006 is OVER! What a year for music. 2 out of the three musketeers made a return to the music scene, with the return of Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake. Britney Spears was supposed to make her comeback this year, which would've completed the three musketeers , but it was delayed due to her babies. Ew. Anyway, to the top 10 of 2006, keep in mind that the results shown are basically from September thru December due to the fact that's when I began recording the total plays. So for songs that were big in my world January thru August I will mention in the "Honorable Mentions". So now to the "Official Top 10", this time last year Paris Hilton was letting everyone know that she was gonna release an album. This summer she did, and her debut album "Paris" spawned my number 1 song of 06' "Nothing In This World". Congrats to Paris. Fergie went solo this year and produced two HUGE songs, one of which is my number 2 song "Fergalicious". A new group that I have become practically obsessed with, RBD came out with their first North American single, "Tu Amor". I was hooked from there on. A British girl that goes by the name Lady Sovereign made my top ten with her catchy song "Love Me Or Hate Me". Pink also made an impression rounding out my 10.

DECEMBER 2006

Yipee! The last month of 2006 came and went. As far as the music was concerned, to be honest, this was probably the most uneventful month yet. It was however, a steady, slow month. Due to the fact that cold weather is here, winter favorites (non-holiday oriented) made the top 10, even making it to the coveted number 1 position with "Let It Snow" remade by Jessica Simpson. "Fergalicious" became the first song to loose plays but still climb in position, and thats why I started recording both plays and positions. "Candyman" made a return to the 10 after its debut in August, due to the fact of it being played on Verizon commercials. RBD came out with a new song and Gwen Stefani's new one also made the 10.

NOVEMBER 2006

17 songs were in my Top 10 this 11th month of the new year! That means that there were a lot of ties. A LOT! Number 6 had a three way tie, while number 8 was a tie between 4 songs! My number 1 song this month was "Lovestoned", which I thought was Justin Timberlake's third single, but I found out at the end of this month it wasn't, but I still love the song. The Pussycat Dolls produced a song that I just couldn't get enough of with "Wait A Minute". Meanwhile Gwen Stefani kept climbing my charts from 9th to 3rd. Fergie stayed strong climbing from 7th to 4th. "Come To Me" made a huge return to the Top 10 after dropping of the charts in October, it came back and landed at number 5! Kelly Clarkson made an astronormous return to my Top 10 after not being on my charts since August! She sang Reba McEntire's classic song "Why Haven't I Heard From You" at CMT's "Giants: Reba". A show dedicated to recognizing Reba McEntire.

OCTOBER 2006

OCTOBER ROCKED! Wow, October was such an awesome month for music. This month I was introduced to a new hip/hop kid on the block, Lady Sovereign while watching her video "Love Me or Hate Me" on TRL, becoming my numero uno song for October-o. I was hooked. Paris Hilton became the first artist to stay in my top 3 two months in a row with her single "Nothing In This World", climbing one position from 3 to 2. I became addicted to the new country song "Watching You" and it collected 17 plays this month in about a weeks time. I was looking at hits across the world and came across my two 5th place songs, "Can't Get Enough", a middle eastern hit, and "From Paris to Berlin", a European smash hit. Gwen Stefani made her glorious return to the music scene and her new single flew into the 9th place position in just two days. I added yellow arrows to indicate whether or not that song gained or lost plays compared to the previous month. I decided to do that because a song could lose a few spins but still climb a spot or two with songs higher up in the charts having a more dramatic fall in plays. On the other hand a song could gain some plays but still fall a few positions because of other faster rising songs.

1)245 "Love Me Or Hate Me" - Lady Sovereign5

10)96 "Tu Amor" - RBD6

SEPTEMBER 2006

Ok, so this month I began to display exactly how many times I played each song. And boy what a month to start! I had a virtual obsession with the number one song, "Tu Amor". Not only because it had 41 plays, but because those 41 plays came in less than one week! That wasn't the only big song for me this month either, a new song out from Diddy and Nicole Sherzinger (lead singer of Pussycat Dolls) became a big hit in my world as well. I also added some arrows at the end of every song to indicate how it compared to last month, whether it moved up or down in position.

1)41 "Tu Amor" - RBD5

2)22 "Come To Me" - Diddy ft. Nicole Sherzinger5

"Old Time Rock and Roll" - Bob Seger5

10)9 "Ring The Alarm" - Beyonce5

AUGUST 2006

This was a very "slow" month for me. I played a lot of my favorite "not so new" songs in August. However new music made it into the top 10 as well. "Longon Bridge" and "Candyman" are very good examples of that, as they were both tied for number one. "London Bridge" was a newly released single and "Candyman" was a rumored new single from Christina Aguilera, which I loved regardless of its future.

1) "London Bridge" - Fergie tied with
    "Candyman" - Christina Aguilera

2) "Black Horse And The Cherry Tree" - KT Tunstal tied with
"Suddenly I See" - KT Tunstall

3) "Since U Been Gone" - Kelly Clarkson
